GM DB2 Pump Wiring Information
Overview
This article shows wiring information for the DB2 pumps generally used on GM 6.2 and 6.5L civilian vehicles (12 volt applications)
Main Connections
12v Power
Should power on with ignition/key ON
Fuel Shutoff Solenoid
Must have 12v+ at this connection for the pump to move fuel
It's not a good idea to leave power to this for extended periods of time when the engine is not running as the solenoid will overheat without fuel passing thru the pump to cool it off
AKA, avoid connecting this to ACC (accessory) power
Cold Advance
12v+ trigger to activate cold advance
This connection is not 100% necessary in all climates and is sometimes omitted
Factory applications, GM used a coolant temperature switch to activate
A simple on/off switch can be wired to enable manual control of the cold advance, where desired
Other Connections
If you have a small "canister" shaped solenoid on your throttle cable bracket, that is the "fast idle" solenoid.
This is another thing that can get a 12v+ trigger to activate and it will push on the throttle lever to activate fast idle.
