SOTF Switch Installation and Troubleshooting
This document provides a comprehensive overview of the SOTF (Switch On The Fly) feature, detailing its functionality, installation, and maintenance. As of 2025, this feature is integral to our multi-position tuners, enhancing user experience, flexibility, and ease of installation.
What is SOTF?
SOTF is a widely recognized industry acronym that stands for "Switch On The Fly." This term is used to describe the innovative knob utilized in our multi-position tuners, which allows users to make adjustments seamlessly while on the move.
Switch Installation
Drill Template
There is a drilling template included in your shipment. You'll need 1/8" and 3/8" drill bits
Locate Spot To Install
Using the supplied cable, determine a suitable location installation that the cable will reach, after it's fully installed in the PCM.
Our Other articles cover installation into the PCM.
Drill Holes
You'll need 2 holes. A 3/8" center hole for the switch to pass thru. And a 1/8" index pin that will orient the switch in the correct position.
You must use the included drill template to determine where the index pin should be located. It is helpful to mock up the switch with the sticker/overlay and knob to determine where position #1 is and use that to orient the index pin.
Switch Basics
The SOTF switch is pre-assembled for your convenience; however, it is important to handle it with care during installation in your vehicle. If the index washer detaches, follow these steps to ensure proper reassembly:
Your switch is equipped with a nut and two washers. The bottom smooth washer must remain in place, with the tab positioned in hole number 6.
If the washer falls out, rotate the switch fully counterclockwise and reinsert the washer, ensuring the pin is aligned with hole 6.
Verify that the switch moves exactly 5 clicks clockwise. If it does not, re-turn the switch to the fully counterclockwise position, adjust the pin, and repeat the process.
